French Blue Armoire

This is a sweet armoire that I thought about selling many times. This armoire is close to my heart as it is part of the bedroom set I purchased years ago for my first baby.  Once his sister was on the way, his bedroom with the furniture in it became my baby daughter's bedroom. I have great memories of all the baby clothes and blankets, and baby things in it... I am very sentimental this is a problem sometimes as I have a hard time letting go!!

Once the babies grow a little bit and were no longer babies, their rooms were changed and redecorated. This armoire ended up in the guest room. It was a honey color and didn't go very well with the rest of the room. Instead of getting rid of it, I decided to give it a makeover and make it work with the room.

I did some experimenting with a few colors. I painted the first coat with Old Ochre by ASCH (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint)

Then I painted two coats of Napoleon Blue by ASCP

And dry brushed some strokes in Paris Gray and Old white.

Then I sanded it down a bit and apply a coat of ASCP white wax

Here is a before!

I think it turned out really cool, and this color goes so much better with the rest of the room!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this armoire makeover.

  1. Wow it's wonderful!!!
    I love this color!

  2. Love, love the blue handpainted finish. It looks fantastic with the beautiful room.

  3. Love what you did with it. The blue looks wonderful.

  4. It looks great. The whole room is beautiful!

  5. Lovely job! The blue is pretty and I am interested that there is now a white wax from annie sloan....I tried the white wax from Amy Howard (purchased at ACE) and found it almost impossible to use!

    1. Thank you Nancy! The AS white wax is very easy to use, just like the other AS waxes!!

  6. What a huge difference a little paint can make. Now it has loads of character and matches the room. Cristina I host the Sweet Inspiration Link Party and would love to have you join us on Friday with your beautiful projects.
